JMI Chancellor: Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, has been appointed as the new Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University. Members of the Court (Anjuman) of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin has been elected as the Chancellor (Ameer-e-Jamia) of the University. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin will assume office from March 14 for a period of five years. Dr. Saifuddin will replace Dr. Najma Heptulla. Najma Heptulla’s tenure was completed last year.
Dr. Najma Heptulla took over as the Chancellor of Jamia University in 2017. His term was completed only last year. Now Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin has been appointed in his place. Who is Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin?
Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin is the head of the Global Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community since 2014. He oversees global programs such as the Saifi Burhani Uplift Project, Turning the Tide, Project Rise, FMB Community Kitchen. Most of these programs focus on issues like eradicating hunger, reducing food waste, protecting the environment.
He has been included in the list of 500 most influential Muslims. Apart from this, he has also been honored with many awards. A citation was read in the US House of Representatives for his contribution. He is received as an honored state guest in many countries.

From where did you study?
If we talk about Dr. Saifuddin's education, then he has studied from Dawoodi Bohra Educational Institute Al-Jamia-tus-Saifiya located in Surat. Apart from this, he has also studied at Al-Azhar University and Cairo University in Egypt. He also inaugurated the new campus of Al-Jamia-tus-Saifiya in Mumbai on 10 February.
Dr. Saifuddin has written annual texts in the last five years. He has also written poems in Arabic and Urdu. He has also written excellent literary articles and poems in the local language of his community, Listen al-Dawat. He introduced measures such as sustainable farming systems, enhancing local infrastructure, and providing equal access to education for both girls and boys in Yemen.
