According to the government data revealed in the Lok Sabha, the number of contractual teachers in the academic session 2020-21 was 3260. At the same time, now 10,462 Contractual Teachers are teaching in KVS. Union Minister Annapurna Devi has presented this figure in the Lok Sabha.
Number of contractual teachers in KVS
If we take a look at the figures of previous years, from 9539 in 2018-19 and 8912 in 2019-20, the number of contractual teachers had come down to 3260 in 2020-21. The main reason for this is that the recruitment drive was conducted in the year 2019.

The Union Minister told in the Lok Sabha that this year the application process was on for the recruitment of 12,099 posts. Out of total posts, 6150 posts are for general category. At the same time, 3254 posts will be filled for OBC candidates, 1802 posts for SC and 893 posts for ST.
Recruitment has stopped due to these reasons
The Union Minister said that due to retirement, resignation, promotion and increase in the number of students, new recruitments take place. Filling up of vacancies on regular basis is a continuous process. Whereas, efforts are made to fill the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules of the concerned institute.

Teachers in KVS are appointed on contract basis by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for a temporary period to ensure that the teaching-learning process is not disrupted.
