Armed Forces Vacancy: The number of youth preparing for jobs in the armed forces across the country is in lakhs. The government informed that the number of sanctioned posts in six Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like CRPF and BSF is 10,05,520. Out of this, 84,866 posts are lying vacant. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai gave this information to the Rajya Sabha while giving a written answer to a question. He also told that appointments have also been made in CAPF in the last five months. He told that during this period 31,785 youths were given jobs in CAPFs.

What is the reason for the vacancy?
Now the question arises that what is the reason for these posts remaining vacant. Due to what reasons these posts are lying vacant. The government told that there are many reasons behind the vacant posts in CAPFs. This includes things like retirement, resignation, promotion, death, establishment of a new battalion, creation of new posts.
How many posts are vacant in which department?
Altogether there are vacant posts in six departments. 29,283 posts in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 19,987 in Border Security Force (BSF), 19,475 in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 8,273 in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), 4,142 in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Assam In Rifles, 3,706 posts are lying vacant. At the same time, 247 posts of doctors and 2,354 posts of nurses and other medical personnel are lying vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces.

When will these posts be recruited?
Even though information about the vacant posts has been given by the Central Government, but it has not yet been told when the recruitment drive will start for the appointment to these posts. However, the central government has made a plan to appoint more than 10 lakh vacant posts within the coming one year. According to this, the recruitment notification will be issued soon for appointment in the armed forces.
