Famous Bengali novelist and short story writer Shasthipad Chattopadhyay has passed away. The creator of the famous ‘Pandav Goenda’ (Five Spies) serial was 82 years old. Chattopadhyay published his first literary work ‘Kamakhya Bhraman’ (Voyage of Kamakhya) in ‘Dainik Basumti’ in 1961.
Chattopadhyay joined Anandbazar newspaper in the same year and worked for its supplement ‘Rabibasaryo’ before joining Indian Railways. Apart from short stories, Chattopadhyay wrote several novels and travelogues, but gained popularity in 1981 after the release of the Pandava Goenda adventure detective series for children.
